July 21, 2020 COVID-19 Update: Coronavirus Cases Increasing in Zambia

The impact of the Coronavirus in Zambia is continuing to affect our ministry efforts in Zambia. Even though the amount of cases appears low in comparison to a country like the United States, according to the Zambian Ministry of Health, cases are continuing to increase and have now spread to every province and district in Zambia. As of July 20th, the Ministry of Health reported a total number of 3,326 cases, which includes 120 related deaths.

In compliance with the Zambia governments directives, our schools remain closed in Zambia, except for our 7th and 9th grade classes, who were allowed to return. Because these classes are examination grades, they were allowed to return to avoid an educational crisis in the country. It still remains unclear when the schools in Zambia will be allowed to fully reopen, but BCA remains committed to reopening our schools whenever it is safe to do so. At this time, there are no known cases among our students and faculty.

In light of the continued closure of our schools, our team in Zambia is still delivering dry foods and school homework to our students in their villages. Also, all of our faculty and staff are continuing to receive compensation.

Would you continue to pray for Zambia and BCA?…

  1. The villages in which our students live are poor communities with little or no health capacity to fight against Coronavirus; therefore, pray for these communities, that God would shield them from Coronavirus.
  2. Please continue to pray for the safety of our Zambian leadership, faculty, and staff as the continue ministering to the students and communities during this time.
